Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum print size?

The largest we can print is 42”x80”.

If I don't see a size listed is it not available?

Our maximum print size is 42”x80”. Our minimum print size is 8"x10″.
On the printing page you can find options for printing standard sizes or you can enter a custom size within the print size range.

How archival are your prints?

We offer papers that can last up to 200 years, if displayed/stored properly. For example, Epson Enhanced Matte paper is rated at 40-70 years (70 if the paper is protected behind U.V. glass) and Epson Hot Press Bright is rated at up to 200 years (220 if the print is protected behind UV protected Glass). With regard to archival properties, the environment where the print is displayed also matters. Prints that are exposed to direct sunlight will fade more quickly than prints that are not exposed to direct sunlight.

Can you help with choosing a paper that would look best with my images?

Yes, we can advise on a paper that suits your photography, vision and budget.
If you have a paper that you love and is not on our list we can order it to the studio.

With new clients we can do print tests to make sure that we are in sync with your colour management.

What if my package is delivered damaged?

If your order arrives damaged or defective, please email us at help@printcounty.com with your order number and a photo of the issue, and we’ll do everything we can to make it right.

We want you to love your Print County prints! As a small business, we’re unable to offer refunds or accept returns.
Please carefully review your project before placing your order, as it will be printed exactly as submitted.

Customs

Customers are responsible for any import fees or customs duties on international orders that may occur.

What are your hours of operation?

We work by appointment to ensure uninterrupted collaboration in printmaking or exhibition design. This allows for a focused, creative environment where your vision can be fully explored and the desired mood emphasised in your final print.

What type of printer do you use?

We use an Epson SureColor P9570 44" printer for wide format prints and bulk orders.
We use an Epson Surecolor P900 17" Printer for smaller sizes.

Who retains the copyright to my digital image files?

You do. Print County does not claim any rights to your artwork, the prints made from that artwork or your master digital files. In addition to this, we only create prints or release files with the express consent of the artist or the artist’s estate. We take all copyright laws very seriously.

What Is Giclée Printing?

Giclée printing is a specialized technique that uses high-resolution inkjet technology to create incredibly accurate reproductions of original artwork and photographs. We print at 300 DPI or higher using a 12-colour pigment ink system on acid-free, archival-grade media - ensuring colour fidelity, fine detail, and decades of longevity.

When you're printing with Print County, your Giclée prints will match your vision, colour for colour, stroke for stroke.

Why are you called Print County?

We are based in Picton, Prince Edward County, we thought about calling the company Print Edward County but decided to shorten the name.

What type of file formats do you accept?

We accept the following file formats: TIFF, TIF, PNG, PDF, JPG, JPEG,

What's the max file size I can upload to your website?

The maximum file size that you can upload is 600MB.

If you'd like to send us a larger file, please let us know and we'll prove another method for uploading files.

What File Resolution (DPI) should my files be?

300 DPI is the preferred resolution though we can work with files that range in size from 150-1200 DPI.

If my file resolution is below 150 DPI for the print size I want?

If the original size of your file is 150 DPI or below, we recommend that you let us do the upsizing for you.
There are limitations to upscaling and we can recommend the largest print size that would work for your image.
If we will be upsizing your file, it is ideal to submit your file as a TIFF if the image was originally a RAW file. If you are scanning film, we also recommend scanning as a TIFF file.

What color profile should I use?

It's ideal if you can use sRGB or Adobe RGB 1998 as your work space and when you export your files for us.

Will the print look the same as what I see on my screen?

Monitors display images using transmitted light, while prints rely on reflected light. As a result, printed images may appear differently than those viewed on monitors due to the differences in viewing experiences. Regularly calibrating your monitor to industry standards, working under neutral and consistent lighting conditions, and editing files with color management enabled in software such as Lightroom or Photoshop can help achieve reasonable color accuracy. If you have concerns about print accuracy, proofs can be provided prior to final printing. Our lab offers custom printing services and aims to deliver a high-quality printing experience.
